July, 2021
The Canadian Toy Train Association is pleased to announce that Lionel has scheduled production of Legacy 2-8-0 Consolidation models in their 2021 V2 Catalog. In co-operation with Mr. Muffin’s Trains of Atlanta, Indiana, CTTA has commissioned a Custom run of 44 Pacific Great Eastern models, available in two road numbers. The Lionel factory will produce #51, and Mr. Muffins will offer a custom decaled engine #54.
Lionel also produced a custom run of 30 CN #2616 engines for Mr. Muffin’s, built to order.
Pre-order price is $675.00 USD. This is a very fair price for a top-of-the-line, limited edition custom run engine.
This is our FIRST Lionel engine.
This engine is a one-time run. Actual production model O gauge engine.
About this 2-8-0 Consolidation Model
Based on a design used by the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads, similar Consolidations were found on other lines all around the United States and Canada. In fact, there were more 2-8-0s on the rails than any other type of steam locomotive! Primarily used in freight service, some saw passenger duty as well. Several remain preserved today, valued for their relative simplicity and reliability. Lionel’s latest release includes new road names from all corners of the country. Big enough to get the job done but still small enough to operate on any layout, these locomotives include all the great LEGACY steam features you love in larger power including Whistle Steam!
Very limited production fact:
This 2-8-0 model was a custom run from Lionel for Mr. Muffin’s trains on behalf of CTTA. A Custom CN 2616 was also made.
